Passion for the profession for over 150 years.

Yme Kuiper is the importer and processor of dried southern fruits, nuts and seeds. As a large industrial bakery and food producer, you have come to the right place. With more than 150 years of passion and experience in the trade, you are assured of the right knowledge and the highest quality. But how do we get all this knowledge and experience?

From miller to specialist in nuts, seeds and kernels.

It all started more than 150 years ago, as a miller. But when the mills made way for factories, the Kuiper family looked for new opportunities. The fourth generation saw a gap in the market: importing and processing currants and raisins from almost all parts of the world. The family business developed into the specialist in cleaning these southern fruits. The fifth generation is now at the helm. The range has been expanded to include nuts, seeds and kernels. Currently, around 85 different products are supplied in over 400 varieties.

A new property

During the years of the Second World War, the building of the Raad van Arbeid on the Herenwal was purchased. Behind this building there was enough space for a large warehouse on the water. In 1950 Jacob Roelof joined the business.

From ship to truck

In the late 1960s, transport by ship made way for trucks. However, loading and unloading caused traffic problems, so it was time for a new location. This was found on the Leeuwarderstraatweg.

Everything changed

Slowly Jack saw the flour trade change. Supermarkets came, small bakeries disappeared and flour was increasingly stored in silos. In addition to flour, Jack also oriented himself in the trade in sugar and salt. In the 1980s he came into contact with a raisin importer in Belgium. The large industrial bakeries had a great need for raisins. They preferred a ready-made product: washed and soaked.

Yme and Henk at the controls

In the nineties, sons Yme and Henk became owners of the family business. In 1996, they invested in a laundry in the building on the Leeuwarderstraatweg. The raisins were imported, washed and prepared for industrial bakeries. Two years later, a new company building was built on Businesspark Friesland-West in Nijehaske. For both production and storage

Yme and Henk at the controls

In 2007, it was expanded with large warehouses and new production lines. In 2013, the building at the back was purchased. This is where the offices and the processing of seeds and nuts (dry production) were housed. Three beautiful buildings in a row with another expansion in 2017, a connection, between the two production buildings.
